SADA organization strongly condemns the re-arrest of journalist Al-Nuzaily and the incitement campaign against Yemen Shabab and Al-Jumhuriya channels
The National Organization of Yemeni Reporters (SADA) issued a strongly worded condemnation of the re-arrest of journalist Mohamed Al-Nuzaily by the “National Resistance Forces” in Al-Mukhah District, under circumstances that violate legal procedures and constitute a direct targeting of journalistic work and the right of journalists to express their views freely without fear or harassment. SADA described this arrest as a continuation of a series of violations against journalists in Yemen, calling for his immediate release and an end to the use of military and security pressure tools to restrict press freedom.
SADA also expressed its strong condemnation of a statement made by the preacher Abdullah Al-Adini, directed at broadcaster Ahd Yassin, calling it an explicit incitement to hatred and an attack on women journalists and media workers.
In addition, the organization voiced deep concern over the local authority in Taiz involving security and intelligence agencies in a dispute with Yemen Shabab TV following its reporting and analyses. SADA characterized this move as a dangerous escalation that aims to restrict freedom of expression and intimidate media outlets and their staff, rather than resorting to legal procedures or the right of reply guaranteed by law.
SADA asserted that these combined practices — from arbitrary detention, to incitement against women journalists, to threats against media outlets — reflect a serious deterioration in the media environment. The organization called for a clear stance from all institutions concerned with freedom of opinion and expression.
SADA urged the Presidential Leadership Council, local authorities, and government bodies to respect the laws and international covenants that ensure the protection of journalists and their right to work without fear. It also called on the Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate, the International Federation of Journalists, and human rights organizations to take urgent steps to protect media workers and put a stop to the escalating violations.
