Sada Organization Condemns the Storming of Aden Al-Ghad Newspaper
The National Organization of Yemeni Reporters (Sada) strongly condemns the grave violation committed against Aden Al-Ghad newspaper, represented by the storming of its headquarters and the assault on its staff by elements affiliated with the dissolved Southern Transitional Council. This incident constitutes a blatant attack on press freedom and the public’s right to access information, and reflects the ongoing pattern of repression and harassment targeting media outlets and journalists in Yemen.
The organization affirms that targeting journalistic institutions or obstructing their work under any pretext constitutes a clear violation of the Yemeni Constitution and of international conventions guaranteeing freedom of opinion and expression, foremost among them the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
While expressing its full solidarity with the management and journalists of Aden Al-Ghad, Sada calls on the relevant authorities to open a serious and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident, hold those responsible to account, ensure that such violations are not repeated, and take all necessary measures to protect journalists and media institutions from any attacks or pressure.
The organization also urges all authorities and active parties to respect freedom of journalistic work and to provide a safe environment that enables the media to carry out its professional role in conveying the truth and serving the public interest, free from intimidation or arbitrary restrictions.
