SADA calls for immediate release of abducted journalists over Coronavirus fears
Statement The National Organization of Yemeni Reporters SADA calls on the Houthi group to release all the abducted journalists immediately and unconditionally, in light of its fears of Corona epidemic spreading globally, and the deteriorating health conditions of the abducted journalists. SADA expresses its concerns over the spread of diseases and epidemics in prisons and detention centers, which are witnessing poor conditions and lacking the most basic health and medical capabilities. SADA Organization holds the Houthi group full responsible for the life and safety of the abducted journalists in its prisons. SADA calls on the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith, International Committee of the Red Cross and international organizations to pressure the Houthi group to immediately release the abducted journalists unconditionally, especially with the deteriorating conditions in Yemeni prisons and detention centers, and the deterioration of the health of journalists for years. The National Organization of Yemeni Reporters calls on the International Federation of Journalists, Reporters Without Borders, Federation of Arab Journalists, Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, and international and local media and human rights organizations to take an urgent position and press all Yemeni parties to release the abducted journalists in light of global concerns about the spread of Corona virus. The abducted journalists in the prisons of Houthi group have suffered chronic diseases as a result of deliberate medical neglect and continuous torture. The abducted journalist Abdul Hafez Al-Samadi is suffering from a significant deterioration in his health condition, but the Houthis refuse to transfer him to the hospital.
